Clayton Township, MI : Two people killed in fatal crash on Friday,September, 4th 2015
A crash that closed westbound I-69 Friday night has left two people from St. Clair dead.
A 38-year-old man died at the scene and a 17-year-old girl died at Hurley Medical Center, according to a news release from the Michigan State Police.
State Police from the Flint Post along with the assistance of several other police and fire departments investigated the fatal crash on Friday, Sept. 4. The westbound lanes of I-69 were shutdown at Morrish Road while police investigated the crash near Nichols Road.
A preliminary investigation showed a westbound Chevrolet Corvette collided with a Dodge Ram pickup traveling the same direction.
As a result of the crash, the pickup left the roadway and overturned, according to the release. Four people traveling in the truck were ejected. Police did not say which vehicle the victims were traveling in.
Seatbelt use and excessive speed are believed to be factors, according to the release. The traffic crash remains under investigation.
