Portsmouth, New Hampshire
A man was killed while attempting to cross Route 1 in Portsmouth Monday morning.
Timothy Morrison, 51, was trying to cross the road in the area of Southgate Plaza while on his way to work, officers said.
Police said Morrison ran into a Jeep, which knocked him to the ground before he was run over by a van. Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene.
Morrison was the grocery manager for McKinnon's Market right near where the accident happened and had worked there for about five years.
Store Manager Patrick Muller saw the aftermath of the crash and when Morrison didn't arrive on time, he was worried.
"There's not been a dry eye all day," Muller said. "I mean, I'm leaving early. I can't even process this. From the ownership down to the last cashier here, we all just loved him."
Morrison has two sons and lived just across the street from the store, according to store officials. They have set up a fund at First Colebrook Bank in Portsmouth to help his family.
"He was always smiling and he's probably smiling now to be honest with you," Muller said. "He was a great guy. Tim Morrison, we all loved him and we miss him already."
