Frederick, MD : Three people injured after crash on I-70 in Frederick County on Wednesday morning, August 3, 2016

Three people, including one who fell into the Monocacy River, were taken to hospitals after a dump truck and a tractor-trailer collided Wednesday morning on Interstate 70 east of Frederick, a county emergency services supervisor said.

The accident happened shortly before 5 a.m., when the collision caused the dump truck to roll over and the tractor-trailer to jackknife in the westbound lanes of the interstate, the supervisor said.

A person who stopped to help fell off the roadway and into the Monocacy River, the supervisor said.

The driver of the dump truck and the person who fell into the river were flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The supervisor said the driver of the tractor-trailer was taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center east of Hagerstown.

Officials said I-70 west was closed to traffic for several hours, and motorists were diverted onto Md. 144.
