Cartersville, GA : 16-year-old boy died and two other teens injured in wreck into Bartow house on Friday, August 19, 2016

A 16-year-old was killed and two other teens were injured Friday morning when a car struck a house in Bartow County and caused a gas leak, officials said.

Three teens were traveling southbound on Old Grassdale Road when the driver lost control of the Toyota Corolla, ran off the road and hit the house, Georgia State Patrol spokeswoman Tracey Watson said.

The front-seat passenger, Christian Austin of Cartersville, was killed. The driver and other passenger, Christopher Cunningham, 15, of Cartersville, were taken to Cartersville Medical Center, Watson said. The male driver’s identity has not been released.

The teens were going from Cass High School to the College and Career Academy on Old Grassdale Road, Bartow schools spokeswoman Cheree Dye said.

After the call came to GSP about 8:25 a.m., emergency officials initially had trouble getting to the site due to the gas leak, Bartow emergency medical services spokesman Brad Cothren said.

The investigation is ongoing.
