HOUSTON, TX : At least 1 dead in wrong-way crash on East Freeway near downtown Houston on Wednesday, 31st January 2024

At least one person was killed and several others were injured in a wrong-way crash on the East Freeway on Wednesday night, according to Houston police.

It started just before 9 p.m. downtown when police said they started chasing a stolen car on Chartres Street.

Officers terminated the pursuit when the driver entered the freeway going the wrong way. Authorities said the driver ended up getting in a crash while driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the East Freeway.
