Cambridge, OH : Patrol identified I-77 crash victims on Wednesday, November, 1st 2017
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has identified the motorists injured in an early morning crash on Interstate 77 Wednesday as Emily Sigler, 23, of St. Marys, W.Va., and Shawn Henderhan, 30, of Marietta.
Troopers with the patrol’s Cambridge post initially withheld the names of the motorists pending the outcome of an investigation into the use of illegal narcotics.
Sigler and Henderhan were transported by United Ambulance to Southeastern Med. Both were treated in the emergency department at the Cambridge facility.
Police said Sigler signed herself out of the hospital and Henderhan was released after treatment. Sigler was then taken into custody on a warrant issued in West Virginia.
The accident occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.
According to patrol reports, Sigler was driving a 2012 Toyota northbound on I-77 when she drove off the left side of the roadway into the grassy median near mile post 37. The vehicle reportedly nose-dived after traveling over an embankment in the median and then overturned before coming to rest on its top.
A dispatch log at the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office indicated Sigler is pregnant.
Emergency responders from the Byesville and Pleasant City fire departments were dispatched to the scene along with United Ambulance personnel, sheriff’s deputies and highway patrol troopers.
The Toyota sustained extensive damage.
Henderhan was reportedly wearing a safety belt, but Sigler was not wearing a belt.
Troopers said they believe Sigler was impaired at the time of the accident. She was cited for failure to control, operating a vehicle while under the influence (of narcotics) and a seatbelt violation.
The patrol said no illegal narcotics were found inside the vehicle.
The pair were reportedly en route to the Dayton area at the time of the accident which remained under investigation by the patrol’s Cambridge post.
