Metairie, LA : 57-year-old Madelyn Apken dead in a car crash on Bonnabel Boulevard and south Interstate-10 Service Road in Metairie on Tuesday, April 14, 2015

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an overnight car crash that cost a woman her life.

It happened at about 2 a.m. Tuesday morning on the South I-10 Service Road at Bonnabel Boulevard.

Jefferson Parish spokesman, Glen T. Boyd, said “for reasons unknown at this time, she lost control crossing a lawn and hit a curb. The vehicle then went airborne striking a tree on the neutral ground and overturned.”

The victim has been identified as 57-year-old Madelyn Apken of Metairie. She died on the scene.

Boyd said she was not wearing a seatbelt.

There’s no word from the Sheriff’s office about what may have caused the deadly crash.
