OCALA, FL : Fatal Ocala hit-and-run crash on Northwest 110th Street on Sunday, 5th August 2018

The Florida Highway Patrol is asking the public for help in finding a pickup truck that was involved in a hit-and-run crash in which a pedestrian died Sunday night.

According to a news release from the agency, the pickup was traveling south on Northwest 110th Street, coming up to Northwest Fifth Street, when a 67-year-old man who was walking and pushing a bicycle east on Northwest 110th Street tried to cross the street.

The pickup “continued traveling south as the pedestrian traveled into (the pickup’s) path. This caused the right front to collide with the pedestrian” and the man was thrown into the northbound lane, the release states.

The crash occurred at 9:06 p.m.

The pickup driver fled “without rendering aid,” the report states.

The pedestrian was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the FHP report states. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

According to witnesses, the truck was described as “dark colored, possibly blue.” It will be missing a front headlight, the report states.
