SALISBURY, NC : 18-Wheeler crashes through parking lot, striking cars and grocery store in NC on Friday, 4th January 2019
Salisbury, North Carolina
Customers at a grocery store in Rowan County got quite the scare Friday when an 18-wheeler crashed into the parking lot, knocking several cars into the building.
“And all I heard was a loud boom,” said Brian Hancock, who was inside the store. “It was like a bomb going off and it seemed like it lasted forever, but after a couple of seconds I saw the 18 wheeler just drive past the opening doors here, ran right into maybe six or seven parked cars, it was a really scary experience.”
The incident happened just before 1 p.m. at the Aldi on Jake Alexander Boulevard in Salisbury. Officials said the flat-bed 18-wheeler ran off the road and into the parking lot, striking at least seven vehicles and the store.
Some of the vehicles struck were pushed into the building as well, leaving a lot of debris across the parking lot.Luckily, no one was hurt during the crash.
