Jersey City, NJ : 5 injured in 2 separate personal watercraft crashes in South Jersey on Sunday, 14th August, 2016
Five people were hospitalized in two separate personal watercraft crashes Sunday afternoon in South Jersey, police said.Two of the injured were airlifted, while the three others were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to Trooper Alejandro Goez.
The first crash in the bay near the Roosevelt Avenue bridge in Ocean City occurred around 1 p.m. when two personal watercraft collided head-on, Goez said. Four people were injured and one of them was taken by helicopter to a hospital.
A second personal watercraft crash was reported a short time later in Galloway Township where a woman ran aground, Goez said. She was also airlifted to a hospital.
Police have not released details on the cause of either crash or additional information about those involved.
State police accident investigation units are on the scene of both incidents.
