Austin, TX : Man was thrown in fatal crash on Tuesday, 25th October 2016
A Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman on Tuesday revealed the identity of a man apparently killed in a car crash over the weekend in Comal County.
According to preliminary results of an investigation, 23-year-old Harley Hicks of Canyon Lake was in the roll-over crash, DPS Sgt. Orlando Moreno said. He said the investigation revealed that Hicks was not wearing a seatbelt.
The crash happened about 8:22 a.m. Sunday on Farm-to-Market Road 2722 about five miles north of New Braunfels, Moreno said. The trooper said Hicks was driving a 2006 Mini Cooper north on 2722 and crashed for unknown reasons.
Moreno said the car veered to the left and went into a ditch. The car then crashed into a barbed wire fence, spun and flipped several times, he said.
Hicks was thrown from the car, which came to rest on its roof. Moreno said Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to an obituary posted on Lux Funeral Home’s website, Hicks was born in Dallas but at the time of his death resided in Canyon Lake. He worked at Great American Products in New Braunfels, the obituary said.
It said arrangements were made for visitation to be held 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lux Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church Canyon Lake at 13085 Farm-to-Market Road 306 in Canyon Lake.
Interment is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Crowell Cemetery in Crowell, according to the obituary.
