ANDOVER, MA : Andover fire responds to serious crash on Union Street near the I-495 on-ramp on Monday, 17th September 2018

A serious motor vehicle crash on Monday afternoon resulted in injuries to three people.

Andover Fire Rescue and Andover Police responded to a crash on Union Street near the I-495 on-ramp at 3 p.m.

One vehicle had broadsided a second vehicle at a high rate of speed. Firefighters had to extricate the occupants from both vehicles using hydraulic rescue tools known as the Jaws of Lilfe.

The drivers of both vehicles were transported to Lawrence General Hospital to be treated for their injuries.

One driver was identified as a 32-year old Andover woman driving a red Nissan Altima. The driver of the other car, a gray four-door sedan, was identified as a 20-year old Andover man.

The lone passenger in the Altima was treated at the scene by firefighters, and there were no passengers in the other car.
