Winterboro, AL : Four people killed in 2-vehicle wreck near Winterboro on Saturday, July 16, 2016
Alabama State Troopers tonight have released the identities of four people killed Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on Alabama 21 near Winterboro.
Leiah Gatlin Watts, 38, of Munford was killed when the 2014 Ford Expedition she was driving was struck by a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Wiley Marsh Whitworth, 75, of Talladega. Watts was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a trooper press release.
Three passengers in the Ford Expedition were also killed. Evelyn Foshee Watts, 73, of Munford; Melda Faye Howard, 73, of Lincoln; and Mary Anna Burgess Adair, 78, of Lincoln were all pronounced dead at the scene.
A fourth passenger, Tammy McBurnett, 44, of Lincoln, was injured and transported to Citizens Hospital in Talladega.
The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado was not injured.
The crash occurred at 1:40 p.m. Saturday on Alabama 21 at the intersection of Grist Mill Road, four miles south of Talladega.
Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
