Huntsville, TX : 14-year-old teenager killed after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 75 South near David Street on Friday night, May 13, 2016

A 14-year-old teenager was killed after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Friday night in Huntsville.

Huntsville police say the teen, who was from Richards and was in town visiting, was crossing Highway 75 South near David Street at about 10:30 p.m. when she was hit. Emergency responders tried to revive the teenager at the scene, but she was later pronounced dead after she was transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital.

Authorities have not released the identity of the girl or the driver of the vehicle at this time.

"The investigation is still ongoing," Lt. Jim Barnes with the Huntsville Police Department said. "At this time it does not appear that any charges will be filed, it appears to be a terrible accident."
