MASON CITY, IA : 1 hurt in crash near Mason City Police Department on April, Friday 14th 2017

A crash Friday afternoon outside the Mason City police station sent one person to the hospital.

It happened about 2 p.m. at East State Street and South Georgia Avenue.

Police say a red Honda van headed south on North Georgia turned left and collided with a gold Chevy Impala going east on East State.

East State Street is the dividing line between North Georgia and South Georgia avenues.

The vehicles ended up side-by-side over the curb on the southeast corner of the intersection.

A woman lying on the pavement next to the van when Mason City firefighters arrived was put on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.
