Warren County, IA : Winterset woman dead in collision near Cumming on Thursday morning
A Winterset woman is dead after two men in a van hit her three-wheel Slingshot motorcycle head-on in a crash near Cumming on Thursday morning.
Josephine Rose Snyder, 63, was killed at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and Cumming Road, according to an Iowa State Patrol report.
Jaeger Lon Bambrook, 19, of Pleasant Hill and Nicholas Robert Bjork, 19, of Des Moines were traveling west on Cumming Road in their 1995 Econoline van when the car in front of them signaled to turn north on Woodland Avenue, said Sgt. Nathan Ludwig, a spokesman for the Iowa State Patrol.
At 7:03 a.m., the driver of the van tried to pass the turning car, and struck Snyder head-on while she was turning east onto Cumming Road.
Bambroock and Bjork were taken by helicopter to hospitals in Des Moines.
As of 8 p.m., Bjork was in good and stable condition at Mercy Medical Center, said Gregg Lagan, hospital spokesman.
Bambroock's medical condition was not available Thursday night.
The crash is still under investigation by troopers and the Madison County Sheriff's Office. Charges are pending, Ludwig said.
