A police chase that started in Roanoke ended in a crash in Salem on Tuesday, sending two people to the hospital.

A Roanoke officer was running radar in the 4500 block of Shenandoah Avenue and clocked a red sedan traveling at an excessive speed about 3:23 p.m., police spokesman Scott Leamon said.

The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the car did not stop, Leamon said.

The pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash about two miles away near the intersection of Electric Road and Apperson Drive in Salem.

Leamon said the only injuries he knew of from the wreck were to the driver and passenger of the sedan eluding police. He did not know the extent of their injuries.
