Raynham, MA : Man thrown from motorcycle in Raynham crash on Saturday afternoon, February 25, 2017
A motorcyclist was ejected from his bike when he collided with a vehicle on a busy highway Saturday afternoon.
Police received multiple 911 calls about 3:16 p.m., initially reporting a crash involving a pedestrian near 266 New State Highway, or Route 44, in front of the CVS Pharmacy.
A Massachusetts State Police trooper arrived on the scene first and told paramedics to hurry to the crash site. Police soon after learned that the crash involved a motorcycle and vehicle.
The motorcyclist, whose identity and age weren't immediately available, was thrown from his bike by a vehicle switching lanes and his body struck a pole, according to witnesses.
The victim was rushed by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital.
A police detective and the department's accident reconstruction unit responded to the scene to investigate.
Part of the road was closed during the reconstruction investigation, but the scene was cleared at 4:30 p.m.
It was the fourth serious crash involving a motorcycle in three days. Two occurred in Brockton and Bridgewater on Thursday, then another in Bridgewater on Friday night.
The Raynham crash remained under investigation late Saturday afternoon. It wasn't immediately clear if any charges would be filed.
