DWIGHT, IL : 9-year-old boy killed in crash on Illinois 17 west of Dwight in northern Livingston County on Thursday, 13th February, 2020

A 9-year-old boy was killed in a single-vehicle accident Thursday on Illinois 17 west of Dwight in northern Livingston County, the Livingston County Coroner's Office said Friday.

Nathan R. Gast, of Reddick, was killed when the driver of a white Chevrolet Tahoe lost control of the vehicle on an icy road in Round Grove Township around 4:42 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle went into the ditch and landed on its left side.

Gast was a passenger in the vehicle.

Information on the condition of the driver was not available from the coroner's office on Friday. Illinois State Police District 6 in Pontiac did not provide further information on the crash to The Pantagraph on Friday, but said more information may be released later.

Assisting at the scene were Illinois State Police, Dwight fire and police departments, Dwight ambulance, Limestone and Riverside ambulances, the Livingston County Sheriff's Police, Illinois State Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Livingston County Coroner's Office.
