Essex Junction, VT : One man killed in struck by car at Globalfoundries in Essex on Monday January 11, 2016.

On Monday there was new information released about the man who died after being struck by a car at Globalfoundries in Essex. Keith McGilvery has more on the family man and the investigation into his death.
Michael Wood was a husband of 45 years and his family says he was doing his job when he was hit in a crosswalk.
It was a tragedy on Globalfoundries' Essex campus.
"What we know for certain is a gentleman was crossing the street, he was in the crosswalk and he was struck by a vehicle," said Lieutenant Robin Hollwedel, Essex Police Department.
That man was 66-year-old Michael Wood of Waterbury. He'd worked at the site as a maintenance contractor for nearly 20 years.
His family tells WCAX he went out to his truck December 23 to pick up a tool when he was struck by a driver.
"It was early in the morning, it was in an area with some ambient lighting, but it was still very dark morning when it occurred," said Hollwedel.
Wood managed to survive severe injuries for more than two weeks, but they were too much. He passed away Friday night. His wife Marsha says he was a dad and grandfather with a heart of gold, who loved people and his Abenaki heritage. She says her husband of 45 years was always helping others.
GlobaFoundries shared a statement with WCAX Monday on Woods death saying in part,
"The entire GlobalFoundries community in Vermont was saddened to hear this news about a member of our 'family.' Our thoughts are with his relatives and friends, as they mourn his loss."
The family hopes for answers about why the crash happened.
