Authorities have identified a driver who died after a crash that sparked a fire and destroyed two buildings in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula. The Petoskey News-Review reports that 29-year-old Jason Wentz of Carp Lake died in the crash about 3 a.m. Tuesday in Emmet County's Carp Lake Township, about 75 miles northeast of Traverse City. The car hit a home and the fire engulfed that building and a neighboring building that had been an antiques store. His 22-year-old girlfriend was the passenger. Authorities say she got out of the wreckage and called 911. She was taken to a hospital with injuries including burns. Crews worked for about two hours to put out the fire.
