Persons from Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga were killed in a traffic collision in the early morning hours of Aug. 20, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner's Division.
At 3:03 a.m., officers of the California Highway Patrol were sent to the area of the eastbound Interstate 15 at Fourth Street in Ontario to investigate the report of a traffic collision. When they arrived, they found a disabled vehicle was struck in the rear by another vehicle.
Brandon Onyemaichi Nwarueze, a 25-year-old resident of Fontana, was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was declared dead at 4:41 a.m.
Steven Alvarez, a 24-year old resident of Rancho Cucamonga, was declared dead at the scene at 3:26 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
