Fox Lake, IL : Teenager killed in northern Illinois crash into restaurant on Thursday, January 1, 2015

A Round Lake Beach 18-year-old who died in a single car accident New Year’s Day had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

Jesus Lopez was the only person in his vehicle which struck the cement base of the Fox Lake Family Restaurant at 56 Route 12 in Fox Lake. The crash occurred about 12:55 p.m., Chief Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo said.

“Alcohol was a factor based on the toxicology results,” Portillo said.

Lopez’s blood-alcohol content registered .24, three time above the .08 limit.

Portillo said he died of multiple traumatic injuries.

The restaurant’s cement base suffered minor damage, according to a restaurant employee.
