Teen killed in one-car rollover Monday in Casa Grande Arizona
A 14-year-old boy, who took his parents’ auto without permission, received fatal injuries when he crashed it Monday evening on Shires Road south of Casa Grande.According to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was driving north when he lost control of the auto and it rolled, ejecting the driver. He was not wearing a seatbelt, nor was he old enough to have an Arizona driver’s license. Two other children were in the auto — the driver’s 9-year-old brother and their cousin, a 13-year-old girl, the Sheriff’s Office said. The two boys were taken to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, where the driver was pronounced dead. The girl was taken to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Police said both passengers sustained serious injuries.Names of the children were not released because not all relatives had been notified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Tim Gaffney said Wednesday. The crash was reported at 5:59. Another nearby auto accident, near the intersection of Hanna and Thornton roads, was reported at almost the same time. The two calls resulted in multiple ambulances and three medical helicopters being called to the neighborhood.
