Gastonia, NC : Police: 1 dead after single car wreck in Gastonia on May 24th 2014

A man is dead after a single vehicle crash just after 11:00 p.m. in Gastonia at the intersection of West Davidson Avenue and North Weldon Street.

Police said Brandon Lamont Dreher, 31, was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima and traveling west on West Davidson Avenue when he lost control of his car.

Dreher them ran off the road to the left, struck a tree, and was throw from the car, officers said.

Dreher died on the scene, according to officers with the Gastonia Police Department.

Police said Dreher was not wearing a seatbelt and speed is a contributing factor in the wreck.

The Gastonia Police Department is asking any witnesses the crash to call 704-866-6702.
