A motorcyclist was killed Friday in a collision with a car Friday in Spartanburg County, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.
Troopers said a 55-year-old Greer woman, who was driving a 2004 SUV, was pulling out of a private drive around 2:20 p.m. onto Reidville Road when a man riding a 2014 motorcycle eastbound on Reidville swerved to miss the SUV and lost control.
Troopers said the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet and was thrown off the bike.
The coroner said the motorcyclist, Phillip Robert Drake Cothran, 24 of Old Greenville Highway, was pronounced dead at the hospital around 3:18 p.m.
The driver of the SUV was not injured. It is unknown if charges will be filed in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
