Carbondale, IL : Carmi man dies in Edwards County crash on Tuesday, August 16, 2016

A two-vehicle crash killed Henry E. Matz, 62, of Carmi, on Tuesday, according to Illinois State Police.

Matz was driving a 2001 Chevrolet truck at about 1 p.m. northbound on Illinois 130, less than a mile south of Edwards County Road 450 North, when he crossed into the southbound lane, according to a preliminary crash investigation. The driver of a southbound Volvo Truck Tractor, 35-year-old Rodney Ezra Sedrick of Mill Spring Missouri, attempted to avoid a collision by driving onto the west shoulder. The pickup truck struck just below the driver's side door of the Volvo.

Matz was pronounced dead at the scene by the Edwards County Coroner. Sedrick did not report any injuries.
