Monett,MO : Vernon woman, child hurt in rollover crash on June, Wednesday 21th 2017
A Mt. Vernon woman received moderate injuries after a rollover crash on Highway H, three miles north of Monett, just north of Farm Road 2210 on Wednesday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cortney Richmond, 27, of Mt. Vernon, was driving north in a 2003 Ford Explorer on Highway H at 2:38 p.m. when she attempted to pass a northbound UPS cargo van, driven by Robert Bobbitt, of Conway. Bobbitt executed a left turn as Richmond passed, resulting in Richmond's SUV striking the rear of the van. Richmond lost control and drove off the right side of the road. Her SUV overturned and landed in a deep ditch upside down.
Richmond and Bobbitt were both wearing safety belts. Monett firefighters and Barry-Lawrence Ambulance responded to the scene. Richmond was transported to Cox Hospital South in Springfield for treatment. Her passenger, Brentley Tate, 3, received minor injuries. He was taken by private vehicle to the Springfield hospital as well. Bobbitt was unhurt.
The Explorer received extensive damage. The UPS van had minor damage.
