Livingston, CA : One killed in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Merced County on Monday afternoon, June 13, 2016

One person was killed Monday afternoon in a four-vehicle crash on Highway 99 in Merced County.

The California Highway Patrol said one person was killed after a vehicle in the northbound lanes crossed into oncoming traffic.

The freeway was closed down around 1 p.m. west of Winton Parkway in Livingston as crews cleared the scene. Traffic was backed up for several miles. The road reopened around 3:40 p.m.

No other information has been released.
