Sacramento,CA : Car crashes into tree, killing one on January, Monday 8th 2018
A vehicle that crashed into a tree on Page Mill Road killed one person and briefly blocked off a section of the street this afternoon, Palo Alto police and California Highway Patrol officials said.
Emergency-radio dispatches indicated crews responded to an injury accident at Page Mill and Coyote Hill roads around 11:55 a.m.
A rescue team was also requested to the scene, where one person was reportedly unconscious and trapped in a vehicle, according to police radio.
Rescuers pronounced one person dead at the scene minutes later, according to dispatch radio.
An orange Fiat 500 ran into a tree while driving east on Page Mill Road. A male driver for unknown reasons drifted off the road and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP.
CHP spokesman Officer Art Montiel said the driver was the solo occupant and was not wearing a seat belt. He sustained fatal injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Page Mill was blocked between Coyote Hill and Deer Creek roads until about 12:30 p.m. The number one, eastbound lane of Page Mill Road was closed at the time of the crash.
The California Highway Patrol will be investigating the crash, which fell within the agency's jurisdiction.
