Orange County, FL : SUV in fatal hit-and-run located; teenage boy arrested near the intersection of Lake Underhill Road and Deerwood Avenue, Wednesday, July 1, 2015
Florida Highway Patrol investigators have located the SUV in a deadly hit and run that happened late Wednesday night and arrested a teenage boy.
Troopers say the driver was a 17-year-old boy who contacted them through his lawyer. He was questioned by investigators along with a 16-year-old passenger who was in the SUV. FHP said the crash was not intentional and the teen driver was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and transported to the juvenile facility in Orlando.
The crash happened as the victim and his wife waited for a tow truck on Lake Underhill Road and Deerwood Avenue Wednesday.
Ling Heung says her car was stopped in the left turn lane when another car coming from the opposite direction drove into their lane.
That’s when the woman says she heard a loud thump and got out of the car to find her husband, Bruce Kuiper, 58, laying on the ground, bleeding.
She saw the Red Nissan Pathfinder make a U-turn and drive off in the opposite direction.
