Mooresville, NC : Man on motorcycle struck patrol car, crashed during chase in Iredell County on Thursday, November 17, 2016

A man was injured after troopers say he struck a patrol car and crashed his motorcycle during a pursuit on the interstate in Iredell County.

Troopers said the incident started on Sullivan Road in Statesville when a motorcycle was clocked at a high rate of speed then got onto I-40. Two troopers then began following the motorcycle.

Officials said the biker ended up hitting the back end of the patrol car, but continued on. He then lost control trying to negotiate the curve going from I-40 onto I-77 and wrecked.

The rider, whose name has not been released, was taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital. Troopers said he was conscious at the scene. They also said alcohol may be involved.

There is no word on charges.
