Salt Lake City, UT : Woman rescued hours after crash in ravine in Kane County on Saturday morning, August 6, 2016
A dump truck driver is being credited for the rescue of a woman whose car crashed into a southern Utah ravine.
Utah Highway Patrol officials say the driver reported debris and paper on the side of SR-9 in Kane County on Saturday morning.
KUTV of Salt Lake City reports that when driving by a second time, the driver decided to get out and look around.
Trooper Lawrence Hooper says that's when the driver spotted a pickup truck down in the embankment.
Police responded and extricated a woman from the pickup.
She was airlifted to a hospital in St. George with serious injuries.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash.
They believe it happened sometime overnight and that the woman might never have been found.
