An 18-year-old driver was killed Monday in a collision with another vehicle after running a stop sign at an intersection in Faulkner County, Arkansas State Police said.
Garry Polk of Center Ridge was driving west on Hickory Ridge in his 1996 Chevrolet when he ran a stop sign at the intersection with state Highway 36, according to a police report. A 2010 Chevrolet traveling north on the highway hit Polk on the driver's side, causing both vehicles to slide into a creek on the west side of the road.
Authorities said weather and road conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the accident.
Polk's death was the 127th reported on an Arkansas road this year, according to preliminary police information.
