Two men were killed in a crash on I-75 in Broward County early Saturday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened just before 3 a.m. in the southbound lane of I-75 north of Sheridan Street, according to FHP. Salvador Diaz, 20, of South Bay, was killed when the unidentified driver of a Kia Optima hit the back of the Volkswagen Passat in which Diaz was a passenger, police said.
The Passat driver and two other passengers from Loxahatchee and Belle Glade went to Memorial Hospital Miramar with minor injuries, police said.
The driver of the Kia struck the back of the Passat, forcing the Passat off the roadway and into a ditch on the west shoulder, police said. The Kia overturned and the driver was thrown from the sedan into the road, where the driver might have been hit by other cars, police said.
The driver of the Kia driver also died in the crash. Police did not identified the driver because the family hasn’t been notified.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Southbound lanes were closed for the investigation and reopened about 9:30 a.m., police said.
