Everglades ,FL : Four People killed and one injured in Crash after vehicle Completely wrecked along US 27 on Monday early morning , March 16th 2015

Four people died in an early morning crash along a foggy stretch of Florida highway near the Everglades, authorities said.

Several vehicles collided along U.S. Route 27 just south of South Bay, temporarily closing down a 40-mile stretch of road extending down to Interstate 75 near Weston, authorities told WPEC-TV.

At least one injured person was flown to a local hospital as Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews worked to pull people from the wreckage, WPTV reported. Helicopter video from the scene showed at least one vehicle with heavy damage, while several tractor-trailers were pulled off to the side.

Authorities said a southbound truck's trailer detached, leading several vehicles to ram into the trailer.

Both directions of the roadway were closed for hours.

The closed section of highway runs parallel to West Palm Beach, down to west of Fort Lauderdale.
