Orland crews and Steuben County officials were called to the scene of an accident Saturday involving two semis that left the driver of one of the semis pinned inside the cab, while fuel leaked from the vehicle.

At 8:20 a.m., Orland crews were called to the 135-mile marker eastbound of the Indiana Toll Road on report of an accident involving two semis. When they arrived they found the driver of one of the semis was pinned in the cab of his semi, a tanker hauling diesel fuel, which was spilling its load, according to a press release.

The Freemont Fire Department was later called for extrication equipment and manpower. The driver was eventually extricated in 50 minutes and transported to a South Bend hospital by Steuben County EMS.

The release did not mention what led to the crash, or if either of the drivers sustained injuries.

Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Toll Road Maintenance and Steuben County 911 also assisted in the crash.
