Hanover, PA : Dillsburg woman killed in crash that closed Route 15 in Franklin Township early Friday morning, August 19, 2016

A 73-year-old woman died Friday in an early-morning, fiery crash on Route 15 in Franklin Township, authorities said.

The crash was reported just before 6 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 15 at Hickory Road.

Geraldine Thomas, of the 100 block of Century Lane in Dillsburg, was stopped at a stop sign facing west on Hickory Road, preparing to turn left onto the highway, according to Northern York County Regional Police.

Thomas pulled out onto Rt. 15 and a tractor-trailer traveling south struck her car, police said.

The York County Coroner's Office said her car caught on fire, and that Thomas died at the scene. No autopsy has been scheduled.

Police shut down Rt. 15 in both directions as Hazmat and accident reconstruction crews completed their work.
