CUBA, KS : Man dies in crash after trying to pass vehicle on Kansas highway on Tuesday, 16th July 2024

A 49-year-old man has died after crashing into a semi on a highway in northern Kansas.

The accident happened at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 36 about five miles east of Cuba in Washington County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the driver of an eastbound Chevy pickup was attempting to pass and failed to move back over. The truck then collided with a westbound tractor-trailer.

The pickup driver, Brian Dowling of Manhattan, was taken to a local hospital where he died. The 71-year-old man driving the semi was not hurt.
