TAMPA, FL : Tampa man, 59, killed in crash on E Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd on Tuesday, November, 28th 2017

A 59-year-old man died Tuesday morning after a sport-utility vehicle turned in front of him on E Dr. Martin Luther Jr. Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place at about 6:40 a.m. Anthony Simons was driving east in a 1993 Ford Escort in the left lane of King Boulevard (also known as State Road 574), approaching Danny Bryan Boulevard.

Sitting at the stop sign at northbound Danny Bryan Boulevard was Gina N. Rivera, 39, driving a 2002 Chevrolet SUV.

Troopers said she attempted to make a lefthand turn and crossed into Simons' path. His Escort struck the front of the SUV.

Simons was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He was wearing his seatbelt, according to the FHP. Rivera and two children in the car, ages 7 and 12, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
