Gary ,IN : Several people injured in Gary multiple-vehicle crash on Tuesday night ,July 14th 2015
Gary police are investigating a multiple-vehicle crash that injured several people Tuesday night on a residential block in the city's Glen Park section.
Neighbors said several people were taken away in ambulances after the crash about 9 p.m. in the 3800 block of Massachusetts Street. At least four vehicles were damaged, including a gray Nissan Sentra, a gray Toyota Camry, a parked red minivan and a parked gold Dodge Intrepid.
Police found an alcohol bottle in a parkway near one of the vehicles.
A man on a porch at the south end of the block said he saw the Camry spinning out of control. The Camry came to rest in the middle of the street, and debris was scattered across the road in front of the car.
A firetruck was parked farther north on Massachusetts, and several police cars with flashing lights surrounded the crash scene.
A woman, who declined to give her name, said she was inside at the time of the crash and heard people shouting, "Call the ambulance." When she got outside, several police cars already had arrived, she said.
An officer at the scene said the crash involved multiple vehicles, but he declined further comment.
Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Decanter said he would release information about the crash as it becomes available.
