Lake View, IA : 2 killed in northwestern Iowa crash of pickup, semi on Tuesday morning, February 14, 2017

Authorities say two Lake View residents have died after their pickup truck collided with a semitrailer in northwestern Iowa.

The Sioux City Journal reports that the crash happened Tuesday morning on a rural road in Sac County, about 25 miles southeast of Sioux City, when the pickup slid sideways in front of the semi and was broadsided.

The Iowa State Patrol says a passenger in the pickup, 65-year-old Peggy Behrens, died at the scene. The pickup’s driver, 73-year-old William Fewell, was flown to a Sioux City hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
