OKEENE, OK : A Hennessey man died in a three-vehicle accident on Tuesday, June 6, 2017
A Hennessey man died Tuesday in a three-vehicle accident near Okeene in Blaine County.
Billy Allen Davis Jr., 20, was pronounced dead at the scene by Jennifer Staggs, medical examiner's investigator, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
The accident happened at 2:24 p.m. on Oklahoma 51 about 4.5 miles east of Okeene.
According to the report, Davis was driving a 2006 GMC Sierra pickup east on Oklahoma 51 when he went over the center line and hit a 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer head-on. A third vehicle, a 2014 Chevy Cruze, driven by Laurie J. Dechant, 54, of Halstead, Kan., was traveling behind the Freightliner and went off the highway to the right to avoid the accident and hit a fence post.
The Freightliner, driven by Cecilio James Maynes, 60, of Laverne, rolled one-quarter time and came to rest in the north ditch.
Maynes and Dechant were not injured, according to the report.
The report lists Davis' condition and the cause of the accident as "under investigation." Maynes' and Dechant's conditions were listed as "apparently normal."
Seat belts were in use by all involved. According to the report, Davis was pinned for about two hours, and was extricated by Okeene Fire Department.
