Provo, UT : I-15 crash near Spanish Fork causes traffic delays on Thursday, June 1, 2017
Traffic on Interstate 15 near Spanish Fork was significantly impacted Thursday afternoon after a driver had a medical incident while driving that resulted in several traffic accidents, according to Utah Highway Patrol.
A 40-year-old woman was driving northbound on I-15 in a Dodge Dart when she had a medical incident that caused her to veer across traffic and hit the concrete barrier on the left hand side of the freeway, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Lawrence Hopper said.
The woman's vehicle then veered right across multiple lanes of traffic and hit the concrete barrier on that side.
The driver hit her head on the steering wheel and was transported via helicopter to Utah Valley Hospital in critical condition, Hopper said.
As the woman veered across traffic, the driver of a Toyota Sequoia braked to avoid hitting her vehicle and veered into a dump truck, he said. There were no injuries related to that collision.
While traffic on I-15 was impacted for awhile, all lanes are open again.
