LOCHEARN, MD : Man, infant injured after car crashes in the 3800 block of Patterson Avenue on Tuesday, 15th January 2019
A man and an infant were sent to the hospital after the car they were riding in was sent into a house in Lochearn following a road rage incident, Baltimore County Fire officials said.
Firefighters responded to the crash seen in the 3800 block of Patterson Avenue at about 7:51 a.m. Two elderly residents were home at the time of the accident, but neither were hurt. The injured man and male infant were considered to have serious but non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said. They were transported to Bayview Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, though officials would not say who went where.
“Apparently there was a road rage incident causing a three-vehicle accident,” said Nicholas Tyson, a Fire Specialist who was on the scene with the Baltimore County Fire Department . “One vehicle pushed the other vehicle into the intersection, causing it to hit another vehicle, which forced that vehicle into a house.”
Police are investigating the incident. The car that collided with the house looked to be a silver Chevrolet Impala.
“You don’t expect to come outside and see a car parked in your basement,” said Arthur Riley, who said he has been living with his wife in the house that was struck for about three years.
He said he heard a loud noise when the accident occurred but didn’t know what it was. Riley said a house down the block recently had a tree fall on it, so his initial thought was the noise may have been a tree hitting his home.
Fire officials were inspecting the house to make sure it was structurally sound and able to be reoccupied. Red Cross officials were on standby if Riley and his wife were temporarily displaced, Tyson said.
