One killed, one injured in Branchville crash in New jersey
The driver of a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee was killed and his passenger was critically injured after the vehicle they were in hit the curb along Route 206 and flipped several times early Monday morning.
According to State Police, Omar Mejia-Perez, 27, of Arcadia, Fla., was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from the jeep he was driving along Route 206 about 3:11 a.m.
The passenger, Alfonso Omar-Caal, was air-lifted to Morristown Medical Center and remains in critical condition.According to State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman, the jeep was traveling south along Route 206 when it failed to maintain control and crossed the yellow line, hitting the northbound curb.
The jeep then jumped the curb and struck the overhead awning of the Blackburn Growers Garden Center and overturned.The jeep continued to roll through a chain link fence and onto the guardrail of Kemah Lake Road, police said.State Police, Branchville Fire Department, Branchville First Aid Squad and a medevac helicopter from Atlantic Health Systems responded.
