POINCIANA, FL : Polk motorcycle crash kills 1 in Poinciana on Wednesday, 1st April, 2020
A Solivita man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Poinciana, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash on Solivita Boulevard in Poinciana, just east of Bell Tower Crossing, was discovered around 9:16 p.m. Wednesday when a couple passing by saw the crashed motorcycle’s lights flashing off the side of the road, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Thursday.Mark Peltier, 60, had been driving a blue 2013 Suzuki GSX motorcycle west on Solivita Boulevard when his front tire struck the curb on the road’s north side, went off the road and struck a tree, PCSO spokesman Brian Bruchey said.
Peltier was transported to Poinciana Medical Center, where he died, Bruchey said.
According to reports, Peltier was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The speed limit on the curvy road is 25 miles per hour, but deputies report that speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
