HOLT, FL : Crestview man seriously injured in motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 90 near its intersection with Galliver Cutoff on Thursday, 9th January, 2020

A Crestview man was seriously injured Thursday morning in a motorcycle crash.

According to Robert Cannon, spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 90 near its intersection with Galliver Cutoff.

The driver, 32-year-old Andrew Joseph Richards of Crestview, was headed west when a deer ran out in front of him, an FHP press release said.

He then hit the brakes, leaving a 50-foot skid mark on the road, before the motorcycle fell onto its side and slid for another 30 feet, the release said.

Cannon said that Richards was taken by air to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with serious injuries.

FHP reported that alcohol wasn’t a factor in the crash.
