BLOUNTVILLE, TN : Motorcycle crashes into school bus in Blountville on Thursday, September 28th 2017

A motorcycle rider was airlifted to a hospital on Thursday afternoon following a collision with a school bus, forcing the closure of a Blountville road.According to Sullivan County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Kristen Quon, the incident occurred at about 2 p.m. at 413 Buncombe Road. The driver of a Sullivan County school bus — which was not occupied by any children — was backing out of a driveway.

The rider, who was not immediately identified, struck the bus and incurred serious injuries, then was taken from the scene by helicopter. Nearly two hours after the wreck occurred, Buncombe Road was still closed in the immediate area.
