Cleveland, OH : 54-year-old Maurice Cowan killed in hit-and-run scooter crash on Kinsman Road in Cleveland on Sunday, Aug 9, 2015

A Shaker Heights man died on Sunday in a hit-skip crash on Cleveland's East Side.

Maurice Cowan, 54, was pronounced dead in the middle of the street after being stuck by a car on Kinsman Road near East 130th Street. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will determine his official cause of death.

Cleveland police say Cowan was driving his 2006 Kymco scooter eastbound about 4 a.m. on Kinsman Road. A car driving "recklessly" in the same direction struck Cowan's scooter, according to police.

Cowan was thrown from the scooter onto the roadway. The other car kept going eastbound on Kinsman. Cleveland police are trying to identify the driver.
